Paintwork
The bike will be with you for countless hours of riding. You'll see it every day leaning against the wall. Don't you want a design you fall in love with?
The idea
It all starts with a small idea. A tiny detail, a conversation, a feeling.
At Oxia, design isn't a catalogue of preset schemes. Every bicycle is born of what you bring: a memory, a landscape, a colour palette that moves you, a shape that has always haunted you.
What gets painted onto the steel begins long before, in a conversation where I ask more than I speak.
The sketches
From your ideas, the first lines are drawn. By hand on paper, or on the computer. Nothing is left to chance.
Every aspect of the design is worked with precision: the proportions on the frame, the distribution of colour, the relationship between the typography and the shape of the tube.
This is where our Art Director steps in, translating your intentions into a concrete visual language. Several proposals. Several iterations. One final decision.
It's not a colour. It's the result of looking at your bike a thousand times before it exists.
The approval
Before the first coat of paint is applied, the design is mounted digitally onto the image of your future bicycle.
You see it. You approve it. If something doesn't feel right, we change it. Nothing goes to the painter until you've said yes.
The painter
With the digital design complete, it's the painter's turn. A craft apart, with his own hands and his own judgement.
Each coat is applied with precision. Each detail is attended to calmly. Four, five, six days of meticulous work: sanding, painting and lacquering.
Here, a set of brazed steel tubes becomes something that is no longer just a bicycle.
Ready to ride. Ready to be admired.
